 Hawkins Pond in North-west Sussex, is an exclusive and quality fishery limited to fifty-five anglers. Rules are kept to a minimum but a high level of responsible behaviour and respect for the fish is expected.
The 11 acre lake has an average depth of eight feet, slightly deeper near the road end and shallow areas at the northern end. There are areas of dwarf lily and over-hanging trees, fishing close to these are often productive.The largest common carp has been recorded at 32lbs 6ozs, and best mirror is around 28lbs. There are pike to 30lbs present. Stocking with Carp will take place annually, introducing rapid growing fish from either Fishers Pond Fisheries or other reputable fisheries. This policy will increase the number of twenty pounders in future years and a number of the recently stocked fish are now in excess of twenty pounds adding to existing stock.
* Hawkins Pond falls within a Site of Special Scientific Interest, so they are obliged to respect the environment.
* the fishery closes from June 1st until June 15th inclusive to rest the fish before/after spawning
* three rods are permitted
* maximum stay on the water 48 hours
* un-hooking mats are compulsory
* fish may only be retained in sacks whilst preparations for photography are being made.
