Broadoak Fisheries has been created to offer experienced carp anglers the chance to fish two breathtakingly beautiful waters, Eridge Park and Furnace Pond, which both contain fast growing English carp. The two lakes are run on a syndicate basis and are both located in areas of outstanding natural beauty in East Sussex.
Eridge Park: Eridge Park is a 6,000-acre private Estate on the Kent/Sussex border. Syndicate members have exclusive access to the lake with secure parking and private facilities within 100 yards of the lake. The water is very rich in natural food and provides a superb environment in which to grow large and healthy carp. The lake has had much of its original stock of tench removed in March 2000 and 2004 to remove all unwanted fish.
The fish first stocked in 2000 between 10 and 14 pounds are now twenties. A further 24 twenties were stocked that year which are now approaching the thirty pound mark. In 2003 six 25lb plus commons and mirrors were added, with further stockings taking place in 2004.
Furnace Pond: "New for 2006" Furnace Pond is located at the top end of the Eridge Estate in the same 6000 acres of prime English countryside as the main lake, but inside the Deer Park, again spring fed as it flows to the main lake below. The pond now stands at 4 acres with depth ranges from 3ft to 8ft on the dam wall with two large areas left to create under water islands or high spots.
The stock consists of double figured fish to twenties, with at least 10 upper 20s to 28lbs and a known 30lb plus leather,150 in all. Other species present include roach and rudd, brown trout, perch and pike.
March 2006: Sheffield Park is no longer available to Broad Oak members but fishing is now available on a new water, Furnace Pond. Eridge main lake has produced 12 different 30's this last season to 37lbs.
