CARP FISHING AT LIZARD FISHERIES - By Paul Wimhurst - 13.07.05

Enjoy reading your site, as you appear to be local to me, and fish pretty much the same places as me. However I have got to put you straight on Lizard 2. You fished there for 2 hours and gave up?! [No stamina...Ed] If its carp you are after you need to put in the hours. I fished there Friday night for the first time, for 20 hours, had 17 carp, including one 17lb, two 16 lb, four 15lb, and nothing under 10lb. The thing is, I had nothing in the first four hours, but I knew what I was doing was right so I stuck it out.

Paul at Lizard FisheriesI fished boilies with small pva bags attached with liquidised boilies and halibut pellet. No other free offerings. Boilies were a mixture of sinking and floating, with a size 6 raptor hook. Thats about it. The important part is to fish the underwater features. There appears to be a drop off about 25 yards out through the middlesection of the lake. Thats where they were! I've only been fishing for about 2 years now, and like you I have the bug. Agree with you about Lizard 1, fishing can be good, although carp are small in there.

Paul at Lizard FisheriesHave you tried Gold Valley? I would suggest it as the easiest place to catch doubles that I have ever been to. No skill required, they jump on, but the adrenaline is good! Gold Valley is near Aldershot, and believe me I have been 4 times this summer. On the 3 single day sessions I had minimum of 10 fish each day and on a 24 hour session I had 30 fish! Its the same for others who go there. Even my 9 year old son had 8 fish in a day with a top weight of 11lb.

Edited By Paul Orford @ Fish South East July 2005 - Thanks to Paul for submitting his thoughts on Lizard Fishery and Gold Valley and for sharing these pictures of the magnificent carp he caught.
