FISHING AT CUCKFIELD - By Jim Coke - 08.06.05

Jim with a Cuckfield carpWent fishing on Friday down at Cuckfield Golf Centre. They've got 3 fair sized ponds which are surrounded on two sides by gorse bushes and trees. It's a very quiet spot aside of the odd crack of a golf ball hitting a tree, take your helmets!

The people who run the course didn't seem to have an idea of what was in there so me and Connor duly got tackled up and cast out. We were plagued early by little gudgeon and roach but persevered to bigger hooks and bait and ended up catching 20/30 6oz-1lb carp on primarily worm and luncheon meat but once you got the depth they'd hit anything. Pulled in one nice common approaching 4lbs.

The owners thought there were no perch or pike in there but one dying fish on the surface was continuously hit from below but kept floating back up, assuming a perch but did not catch any. All in all a good day, one would be fisherman who turned up to have a look had been told there were a few 12 pounders in there and some nice tench, I'll have to have another go!

The venue that Jim and Connor fished is located at:

Cuckfield Golf Course, Staplefield Road, Cuckfield, West Sussex
